Scope
25 jurisdictions across six continents. Each entry records four things: the AI governance law or policy in place; the authorities that supervise it; other laws that bear on AI; and the wider AI context. Entries prioritise binding instruments, comprehensive bills before a legislature, and the regulators with jurisdiction over them.
Method
Postures are assigned on what is enforceable, not what is announced. A national strategy, however ambitious, does not move a jurisdiction out of “Strategy & voluntary guidance”; a binding instrument with a compliance date does. Where a headline law leaves its substantive duties to secondary legislation still to be written, it is classified as a framework law.
Cadence
Published monthly. Each edition carries a version of the form YYYY.MM and a release-log entry listing what changed, so a reader can diff two editions without re-reading every card.
Not legal advice
Statuses and dates move quickly, and several entries describe instruments whose commencement dates are themselves contested or under amendment. Verify against primary sources before relying on any entry.
